Book Saved
If the we now lived in a post-apocalyptic world had just ended and all the books were destroyed, my first reaction would be excitement no more book reports! I know however, that some people would be upset because they love to read, and would be devistated. If I had to save one book for future generations though, I would probably save the first Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". This is the first book in the Harry Potter series, so therefore it is the start to best selling book series in history. It started a worldwide craze, and jetted J.K. Rowling to one of the most known authors in the world today. Harry Potter, and his lightning scar, have become one of the most recognized characters, and symbols anywhere in the world. There has even been a movie created for each book, and now the Harry Potter series is worth just about $17 billion worldwide. As you can see this book is popular and is the book, and series, of our generation, and thus would be the ideal book to save.

Technology Driven
The world today can not operate without the use of technology plain and simple. Everyday we use more technology then we even realize. It is every aspect of our everyday life, from the alarm clock that wakes us up, to the shower that we take, all the way down to the shoes we put on everyday and don't even think about it. Those are some of the technology advances that aren't electronic, but electronic advances have far and away had the biggest leaps and bounds. Although all of the advancements in technology have been abused. There are people in the world who take the inventions and use them for evil purposes, like people who hack accounts and get bank information and credit card information using a computer, heck now they can even do it with a smart phone. There has also been major technology advances in medical field, which makes them able to do more than they have been able to do in the last 100 years. They don't have it all figured out, but with what they do know they have saved many lives and to me any time you can save at least one life its all worth it. With all that said the future is waiting to be written who knows what will be created tomorrow.

NBA Powerhouses
The NBA lately has been going through some major change. It has evolved from its prime glory days, when Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson played, to a free for all of young kids that are fresh out of high school. Don't get me wrong I love the game of basketball just the way it is; I love the fast pace, high flying, and lightning quick cross overs just as much as any other basketball buff, but what I am here to write about is the way the game is being managed. Teams are trying to get the best NBA players on one team, and its happening all over the country. The first team was the Boston Celtics, acquiring three great players, old but still very competitive in Ray Allan, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett. They worked well as a team which is why they were successful. The current big all-star studded team is the Miami Heat, gathering three of the greatest players at their positions who are still currently in their prime, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. They have had their struggles this season, trying to find who the go to guy is late in the game, but just in time they have found their rotation and are actually beating the Boston Celtics in the playoffs. The other major team that is planning on making a move that would give them a major hand on any team in the NBA is the LA Lakers. Currently they have arguably the best player in the world, Kobe Bryant, and the second best center, Pau Gasol. They were swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs, but they are getting ready to set themselves up for a major run next season by trying to acquire the best center in the NBA, Dwight Howard, which would give them the best player in the NBA, and the two best big men. You never know how the team will mesh until they start to play but this could prove to be a terrible move making a teams season not up to expectations.

OSAMA BIN LADEN DEAD!!!

Facebook has quickly become the worlds most popular, not only social networking site, but also the worlds most visited website plain and simple. I am a Facebook user because it is how people communicate in todays world, heck I even began my girlfriend because of Facebook, not something I want to tell people, it doesn't quite have the romantic flair as meeting her because I saved her from a burning building or something. It is just a way to keep up with your friends news, and see what activities are going on in the world, events that won't be read in the newspaper or watched on CNN. I however, am not the kind that is addicted to Facebook, I prefer the old fashion face to face kind of stuff. People are on the computer way to much, the majority of the time is spent of Facebook stalking people, and getting in peoples business. I have 491 friends, and I know every single one of them. I am not the kind of person that doesn't care what people think, especially the people who accept everyone that asks to be their friend, to try and be cool. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING 2000 FRIENDS IF YOU ONLY KNOW 200 OF THEM!!!! It just doesn't make any sense to me. I think it is fair for employers to look at the Facebook of people they want to hire because it shows the true side of them that might now have come across in the interview. People are good about covering up secrets, and putting up a front in the interview and you don't really know who you are hiring. It allows employers to see the real person they are hiring, and possibly prevent from hiring. As far as big networking creating a page to get viewers I don't see how it is a problem, it's just like an up and coming music person trying to promote themselves and getting some listeners, viewers, or followers. If something is big enough to create a high-grossing movie, "The Social Network", you know that it is a major deal.

My Major
The major I have chosen is business management. I chose this because I had an internship at WPAFB last summer and fell in love with that world, computers, a blackberry, and a nice suit. Of course that is not all that attracted me to this field. I love anything that deals with competition, and right behind sports, the business game is the most competitive thing there is. I like the ability to work individually or as a team which this field provides, also getting a major in business management would open up a lot of doors, and allow lots of job opportunities. I think I have what it takes to succeed in the business world. My competitive drive to be better than others and do the best at what ever it is that I do will always be a major factor. Being a quick learner, open minded, and willing to learn kind of person allows me to work well with others and take criticism as a way to get better and succeed even more. My ideal business job would be something in the NBA, and just about anything in the NBA would be okay with me, or a place where I can work my way to the very top in a Fortune 500 company. My absolute ideal job, well dream job now, would be being the commissioner of the league, I feel it is healthy to have high goals, David Stern I am coming for you. Given the opportunity to move to an area like Ft. Myers, Florida, I would leave in a second. Any place that is a safe place to raise a family, and warm pretty much year round is where I would like to live.

Watermelon Anyone?
The picture I chose is called "The Watermelon Race" by Palmer Hayden. The picture itself is three guys, doing what the title says, having a watermelon eating contest. To me this picture is meant show how hard the times were during Palmer's time of living. Also to show that people would do anything they could to provide some entertainment when times are tough. Something so simple as a watermelon eating contest can provide as much entertainment as a baseball game. It is a painting done in the year 1930, it appears to be aimed at people who have, or were going through a struggle, reminding them that it does not take much, including money, to have a good time and keep a smile on your face as well as those around you. He pretty much uses a broad range of color across the spectrum to make you feel like its a hot summer day.

WSU...For Now
Truth is WSU was my last resort. Growing up my dream was to play college basketball and after my junior year in high school it was looking like this dream would come true. I had scholarship offers from division two, and even a couple division one schools. My dream was coming true, my senior year was here and I had decided between a couple of schools, but Wright State was not one of them. After my senior season, things between me and the coaches of the schools did not go over well and everything fell through. Leaving my dreams crushed and me frantically trying to find a place where I could further my education.
My decision to go to Wright State was one that was made at the very last second, but it turned out to be a great choice. I live in a very small town known as Tipp City. One of the main reasons I am attending WSU is because it is very close to where I live, only a 25 minute commute down I75. Another reason is because college is about living it up and I want to create memories, that fact that a lot of my close friends decided to go here as well, made the decision a hands down, no brainer. Finally, and probably everyones top decision maker, the price of the education, for the quality was second to none, as far as the college of Business is concerned.
The dream of playing college ball has not gone anywhere, I am still hoping to play, talking to new schools and opening up new lines of communication. Only time will tell if I remain a Raider, or I become a member of another school completing degree, and completing my basketball dreams. A lesson I am learning is do not let your dreams stay dreams, do everything you can to make them become reality.
